A coalition of aviation unions under the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has officially suspended its planned indefinite strike, set to begin on Monday, August 11, 2025.

This decision follows encouraging signals in ongoing discussions around worker compensation.

Relevant unions include the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP), National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), and Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE).

Meanwhile, union leaders revealed that recent breakthroughs including a “no objection” letter issued that could unlock long-awaited pay reforms have prompted optimism.

The Budget Office and National Incomes, Salaries and Wages Commission have reportedly cleared part of the path, while NAMA management has assured staff of salary adjustments pending disbursement.

With goodwill established, the unions have postponed the strike to monitor how the end-of-month rollout unfolds. Union officials have urged all NAMA staff to stay hopeful and aligned with developments.
