Sikiru Shehu Akanji, affectionately known as S-K in his Mafoluku-Oshodi teenage days, particularly on the football field, and Yomi Shehu to his peers, remains one of the most remarkable exports of Mafoluku-Oshodi Community to Nigeria.

Sikiru Shehu Akanji’s distinguished career cuts across the public and private sectors: A former university lecturer, a consultant with Coopers & Lybrand Consulting ( now Pwc), rose to the rank of AGM in the banking industry, Director at the Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC) etc.
A Fellow of the Nigeria Computer Society (FNCS), Fellow Institute of Information Management (FIIM), Member of the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (MCPN) etc. He was at a time very active as a member of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG)
Sikiru Shehu Akanji was a member of the pioneering Executive Board of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA) and was in charge of Establishment and Finance and served in various committees as either a member or as chairman.
Because of his belief that there was a need to develop skills and capacity for the internet/digital economy in Nigeria, he was instrumental in establishing the NIRA Academy (.NG Academy) and served as the pioneering Dean of the Academy on pro bono ( for free, no salary ).
During Sikiru A. Y. Shehu tenure as Registrar/CE of CPN, a federal government professional regulatory agency, Sikiru enjoyed a strong working relationship with the National Assembly, particularly the Senate and House Committees on Education, where he effectively represented the agency during budget presentations and other initiatives focused on national development.
In Oshodi/Isolo LG, he continues to motivate young people through educational initiatives.
Notably , Sikiru Shehu Akanji co-sponsored ‘Mental-Hack’, a comprehensive program focusing on spelling and general knowledge, which drew participation from 35 public and private schools in the Oshodi -Isolo local government area.
He’s also committed to supporting the less privileged, providing scholarships to indigent students. He is currently mentoring a team of young entrepreneurs through his online magazine known as Magazine Afrique, amongst similar projects
