A more robust and 360 view of AI at Davos 2024, as it grows in recognition globally. However, this article did not only talk about AI, rather it encompasses the fears the technology extremely possesses in line with the key points raised at the conference.

It also contains conversations on how the technology can be used across various industries like, health care, aviation, education etc

Also, how technology stakeholders are aware of the adaptation the technology needs in the face of human beings and are undoubtedly putting human beings first.

Below are the five-point discussions that give insights into the technology and the next steps;

Much of the world is still analogue and disconnected

It is really difficult for us to move from physical ways of doing things, which have been fundamental to our practices to AI-oriented practices. And not all things can be done using the Intelligence.

This will take a lot of time with patience and generations of reorientation.

The Forum’s EDISON Alliance call actors from the technology and communication, education, healthcare, finance etc to give room for more digitalization, as technological access across various fields continues to be challenging.

In January 2024, Alliance partners have bettered 784 million lives with 320 inventiveness in 127 countries, reaching 75% of its 2025 goal.

The Alliance announced this at Davos, as they show the importance of trying to close the gap digitally. They also introduce a scorecard report showing the progress made and where they need to work to achieve and impact local and fundament digitalization worldwide.

We need to prepare for the coming quantum economy

Quantum economy is already here, as sensing, navigation, and communications, are expected to impact the global economy by 2030 as AI.

Government and Business owners need to start aligning with this by upscaling and employing highly skilled workers.

This was further buttressed by Joël Mesot. He said the combination of highly skilled vocational people and engineers could be powerful, as there is no longer time to waste.

A combination of highly skilled vocational people and engineers can be incredibly powerful. But we need to start now

Joël Mesot, president of ETH Zurich said

However, Ana Paula, Assis, chairman of the Europe, Middle East and Africa division said Quantum computing is not something that can be done by one person. He said there has to be ecosystems of developers that will make the quantum industry thrive.

If we create the ecosystem of developers in order to drive the applications that are going to benefit from these computers, then we start to create an industry around quantum,”

Ana Paula said

Jack Hidary, SandboxAQ CEO has shed light on how people at the helm of affairs can learn from AI shortcomings, getting ready for the incoming quantum economy. He also said the quantum divide and digital divide are two different ball game

We cannot accept that there will be a quantum divide the way we had a digital divide.

Jack said

The Forum showed a guideline to governments, industries, and various fields on how to assemble a beneficial ecosystem for all.

Space technology is critical for planet Earth

The quantum economy can be used to reduce global risks that may likely be caused by climate change over the next 10 years. They are very important in space technology.

The CEO and Co-founder of Planet Labs, PBC said technology like earth imaging systems give innovative data that will help metamorphose into a renewable economy.

They also help to track natural disasters, the limit and how they would respond. This and more is what AI brings.

Director-general of the European Space Agency, Josef Aschbacher has said they could combine AI with earth system models to give the closest predictions amidst climate risks

We can combine AI with earth-system models together with high-performance computing to simulate certain situations and climate risks,” said Josef Aschbacher,

Josef said

The effective permanence of this was talked about, as 1.7 million satellites would be in space by 2030. This is not strange to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), as they are up and doing when it comes to satellites in space.

ITU’s secretary-general, Doreen Bogdan-Martin said an important outcome on effective space permanence was reached this year that looks at removal and disposal of malfunctioning satellites.

An important outcome on space sustainability was reached this year that looks at deorbiting and disposal strategies

Doreen said

However, there is still much to be done especially resources available for space-related activities. Also, the people in this space field who have the experience and infrastructure must put cost and impact forward before any other thing.

President of ViaSat Inc., Guru Gowrappan has said sustainability needs finance;

There is a basic economics input that is missing that is not tied towards sustainability,”

All parties agree that global cooperation and exchange is a must. Speakers have agreed that there should be criteria for launching satellites which enhance effective permanence and maintenance against destroyed objects or remnants of man-made activities. They came in agreement to the session Taming Competition in Low and High Orbit.

AI will help us to prioritize our humanity

There has been a transformation in health care, industries, education, and public services due to AI.

Sam Altman, CEO of the Technology (Open AI) said the Technology gives humans room with tools for improvement than before.

AI allows humans to access better tools and more v than ever before

Sam Altman said

Starting and developing women’s healthcare is likely not to contribute $1 trillion to the global economy in the next 26 years.

AI used in the health care system could help enhance and foster work interactions among medical professionals and empathy among health professionals and patients.

This imaginative use of AI with quantum and various technologies would be a seamless and faster solution in the healthcare industry.

Continuous dialogue will deliver the benefits

There is a need for layered conversations and inclusivity around the interwoven complexity between the triangle; technology, governance and societal well-being.

AI would be beneficial to all; ticking all the boxes specifically during difficult cultural and geopolitical crises. Technology is bent on our advancement with climate change and inequality amongst many others.

Given the fast pace of advancement in technology, there needs to be constant dialogue between the public and the private sector, as the notion of “old school governance” and “new school technology” will be very crucial. However, the Alliance publicized three new insights that would guide the government and businesses on AI development, Applications, and Governance.

The Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution continually expanded its work. It announced three new centres it opened in Germany, Qatar, and Vietnam, getting ready to launch another centre in Ukraine, with global cooperation, as the aim.

Moreover, The establishment across these three countries, with the fourth one in the works will facilitate collective intelligence among them while fostering foreign collaborations and pushing for advancement and wide reach of the Technology.

In conclusion, the major takeaway from Davos 2024 is the digital inclusion of AI, the innovative upgrade in healthcare, and the advancement in predicting climate change for the development of society.

This just shows how impactful the innovation is The views expressed in this article are those of the author alone and not the World Economic Forum.
