President John Dramani Mahama quickly reacted to a viral video showing vulnerable students crossing a fallen tree to reach school and ordered the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to build a bridge in the Asuokow community situated within the Lower West Akim Constituency of the Eastern Region.

A boy in the video showed viewers how he supported his friend by carrying him on his back while they walked across an unstable bridge. The dramatic visual imagery in the video motivated people to pressure for immediate solutions because students faced dangerous obstacles every day.

The GAF engineers carried out feasibility studies in Asuokow after receiving instructions from the President. The initiative will establish a safe and dependable crossing point that gives residents along with students safe access to education along with essential services.

During a recent press conference, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah the Minister of Defence explained that the government remains dedicated to fixing the issue at hand as soon as possible. The President John Dramani Mahama guaranteed Ghanaians that his team was working to provide a permanent and urgent solution to the challenges faced by the people and students at Asuokow. We shall fix it!”

Various stakeholders including parents together with educators and community leaders support the government’s proactive solution for infrastructure development in the region.

The new bridge will create enhanced safety features and it will stimulate the economic progress of the Asuokow region and its neighbouring communities.

Social media demonstrates its strength by raising awareness about localized matters which prompts the government to take necessary actions for citizen needs.

The community maintains optimism about both the beginning and completion of the bridge which will represent a major advancement toward better rural infrastructure and educational opportunities in Ghana.
