Dr. Mohammed Amin Adams assures that the NPP will offer constructive criticism without undermining President Mahama’s administration, highlighting the importance of national interest and unity.
Former Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Karaga, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adams, has reaffirmed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) commitment to constructive opposition, emphasizing that while the party will critique President John Dramani Mahama’s policies, it will not engage in actions that sabotage his administration.
Speaking at the Gonjaland Youth Association’s handing-over and fundraising ceremony on Saturday, May 31, in Accra, Dr. Amin Adams stated, “There is no way we can sabotage the administration of our brother. If he’s successful with his tenure, it will be a testimonial also for Dr. Bawumia and other younger ones who will come in the future.”
He further emphasized that political competition should not come at the expense of national unity and progress.
Dr. Amin Adams highlighted instances of camaraderie among MPs from different parties as evidence that national interest can transcend partisan divides.
“We’ll criticise his policies—yes, we’ll do that because we also want to come back to power.
” But our interest is to contribute ideas so that he will succeed,” he added.
Dr. Amin Adams also called on political actors from northern Ghana to rise above divisions and act with a united purpose, especially when engaging national platforms or seeking development for their communities.
The Gonjaland Youth Association, celebrating its 49th anniversary, aims to reposition itself as a development-focused youth force through fundraising, youth empowerment programs, and diaspora mobilization.
