Shatta Wale’s detention is all the talks in Ghana’s entertainment scene after the popular dancehall star was taken into custody at the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).
The dramatic arrest came less than 24 hours after Wale flaunted his newly acquired $260,000 Lamborghini on social media.
According to reports, EOCO officials first seized his yellow Lamborghini, followed by his purple one, before placing him under detention.
Eyewitnesses say supporters of the Shatta Movement stormed the agency’s headquarters, chanting and protesting against what they described as targeted harassment of their idol.
The real shock came when reports surfaced that EOCO was demanding a ₵10 million bail—equivalent to nearly $1 million USD.
Fans says the amount is outrageous and politically motivated, while others argued that high-profile celebrities should not be above scrutiny.
Videos from outside the EOCO office show intense demonstrations, with placards, chants, and heavy police presence as tensions escalate.
Social media has since erupted with hashtags backing Shatta Wale, while critics say Wale’s flamboyant display of wealth may have triggered closer investigation.
Ghanaian entertainment circles are watching closely to see whether EOCO’s case against Shatta Wale will hold or if public pressure will force his release.
