On May 1, 2025, activists worldwide are rallying to commemorate International Workers’ Day, with a significant focus on opposing policies from former President Donald Trump’s administration that impact immigrants, federal employees, and diversity programs.
These demonstrations belong to the nationwide “Hands Off” movement that originated when community members launched their resistance against President Donald Trump’s second presidential term on April 5, 2025.
Millions of people spread across all 50 states have taken part in demonstrations against multiple administration initiatives starting from global tariff implementation through extensive government budget cuts to endangered union protection rights and immigration operations and LGBTQ+ rights regression along with medical care funding reductions.
The San Francisco Bay Area will have more than twelve scheduled demonstrations taking place across San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Pleasanton and San José.
