Known for his chart-topping hit “Who’s Your Guy”, Afrobeats star Spyro whose real name Oludipe Oluwasanmi David has reaffirmed that his Christian identity is non-negotiable.
In a heartfelt post, Spyro recounted how, after leaving his record label in 2019, he financed his next steps through bank and personal loans with no outside backing.
During this critical phase, some team members urged him to drop his “Jesus Boy” label and remove “Christ Ambassador” from his profile, warning it could undermine his marketability. But he stood firm:

“I remember saying I would rather die than remove Jesus from my profile… When they suggested I change it to ‘Child of God’, I said no again. I believe the Jesus I proclaim will make a way for me.”
Today, that conviction looks prophetic. As Spyro reflected:
“Recently, a teammate called and said, ‘A lot of artistes are suffering, no deals, no shows—but you’re in a very good place, and I’m proud of you.’”
His steadfastness is paying off, proof that standing firm can unlock doors even when it costs.
