Kazakhstan’s Grand Mufti praises Morocco’s role in fighting religious extremism and fostering Islamic solidarity during a diplomatic meeting in Astana.
Kazakhstan’s Grand Mufti and President of the Religious Administration of Muslims, Nauryzbay Haj Taganuly Otpenov, has praised Morocco’s “leading role” in combating religious extremism and promoting Islamic solidarity.
The commendation came during a meeting with Morocco’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Mohammed Rachid Maaninou, in Astana.
Otpenov highlighted Morocco’s spiritual leadership and its commitment to peace, tolerance, and interfaith dialogue. He expressed appreciation for the shared Islamic values that unite the two nations.
During the meeting, Ambassador Maaninou presented the Religious Administration with copies of the Holy Qur’an, printed by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Edition of the Holy Quran.
This gesture aligns with Morocco’s efforts to promote its religious model and strengthen bilateral cooperation in religious affairs.
The ambassador also emphasized the fruitful outcomes of Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs’ recent visit to Morocco, noting the strong momentum it has given to bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
Otpenov, who participated in religious talks in Morocco during Ramadan, expressed gratitude to King Mohammed VI for his dedication to religious matters and thanked Morocco for the Qur’an copies, which will enrich the library of the Religious Administration and benefit worshippers in Astana.
The meeting underscores the deepening spiritual and diplomatic ties between Morocco and Kazakhstan, highlighting their shared commitment to combating extremism and fostering interfaith harmony.
