Tinubu Government Confirms Jihadist Extremism From North-East, Says Nigerian Christians, Muslims Are Being Killed

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this during an appearance on Channels Television’s programme on Friday.

The President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government says it is not denying the scale of killings across the country but is taking “significant steps” to address security challenges in Nigeria.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this during an appearance on Channels Television’s programme on Friday.

“Yes, we have people being killed, no doubt about that, and the government is not shying away or denying this,” the minister said.

He explained that some deaths arise from religious tensions, economic pressures, and persistent communal clashes, especially in the Middle Belt.

Idris added that no administration gains anything from allowing such violence and noted that the President is “deeply saddened” by every life lost.

“Do we have people killed? Yes. Is it a good thing? No. Is the government doing anything? Quite a lot.

“We should not have a situation where anybody is killed, whether Christians or Muslims,” the minister said.

“The Blood Of Nigerians Is On Your Hands”- Mr Macaroni Calls Out Tinubu On Security Failures

Debo Adebayo, the Nigerian comedian and social commentator widely known as Mr Macaroni, has criticised President Bola Tinubu over the rising wave of terrorism and mass kidnappings in Nigeria.

In a post on his X account on Friday, Macaroni condemned the President’s approach to national security, pointing to the ongoing abductions of schoolchildren as evidence of “incompetence.”

He wrote:

“President Tinubu, you claimed to have all the solutions to end terrorism. You said any President unable to protect the people is incompetent.

Every schoolchild who has been kidnapped is a result of your failure. The blood of Nigerians lost to acts of terrorism is on your hands.”

His remarks came in the wake of an attack in Niger State, where terrorists kidnapped students and staff from St. Mary’s School, a Catholic institution in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area.

ASUU strike: NLC to convene meeting as ultimatum ends today

The Nigeria Labour Congress has said its organs will meet and decide on the next line of action as the ultimatum it issued to the Federal Government over the looming industrial action in public tertiary institutions expires on Saturday (today).

The acting Secretary-General of the NLC, Benson Upah, disclosed this in an interview with our correspondent in Abuja on Friday.

The NLC, after a meeting with tertiary institution-based unions, resolved to give the Federal Government a one-month ultimatum to resolve the lingering crisis in universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.

Dollar to Naira exchange rate today, November 22, 2025

The dollar to naira exchange rate on November 22, 2025, in Nigeria’s official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) is stable around ₦1,450 per US dollar.

Meanwhile, the parallel market (black market) rates show the dollar trading between ₦1,460 (buy) and ₦1,474 (sell), reflecting a persistent premium due to demand and limited foreign exchange inflows.

This continued gap between the official and parallel markets impacts importers, consumers, and individuals engaging in remittances or foreign transactions, as the parallel market rates are higher than the official NFEM rates.

The official NFEM exchange rate remains steady at about ₦1,450 per US dollar.

This rate is a volume-weighted average published by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), based on recorded transactions in the official market.

The market monitors observe that the mid-₦1,400 range is sustaining with liquidity constraints and policy interventions influencing stability.

Super Eagles’ Failure: President Tinubu must intervene now — Toro

Nigeria began and ended her 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign in the worst manner possible.

From a 1-1 home draw against Lesotho on November 16, 2023 in Uyo to a disastrous 5-4 penalty shootout loss to DR Congo in the CAF World Cup playoff final in Morocco on November 16, 2025.

The shootout scoreline didn’t accurately reflect the Eagles’ poor performance.Congolese deserved to win in regulation time or during the extra time.

The Nigerian team left many wondering how bad it has already gone for Nigerian football. But the rot did not start today.

The indicators have always been there, except that those in charge of Nigeria football have either been ignoring the signs or mischievously overlooking them.

Analysts are of the belief that the present NFF had no answer.
