The co-founder of one of the biggest AI companies in the world has been announced dead. Tang Xiaoou founded SenseTime- a China AI software firm.

Tang Xiaoou was reported to have passed away on Friday at the age of 55 but his death was made known today. Mr Tang is a Chinese billionaire and a lecturer at the University of Hong Kong. He started SenseTime from there and his technology has now grown to be a big deal in the industry.

According to reports on Reuters, Tang Xiaoou’s AI facial recognition technology is now in high demand by both public and private firms.

The reasons for Tang Xiaoou’s death were not stated but were tagged “Unknown”. Read SenseTime official statement;
