Warriors’ winning streak halted as the Newtown Jets handed the One New Zealand Warriors their first defeat of the season in a top-of-the-table New South Wales Cup clash at The Trusts Arena in Auckland.
The Jets prevailed 28-20 in the match thus ending the Warriors’ national championship streak.
Early in the game the teams performed matching try-scoring efforts which gave the Warriors a 10-4 lead at halftime.
The Jets controlled the initial part of the second half by scoring three tries which gave them a 24-10 advantage.
The Warriors scored two tries to make the scoreboard 24-20 but the Jets increased their advantage through two penalty kicks in the final minutes of the match.
The Warriors maintain their first position in the NSW Cup standings through their better points differential despite their recent loss.
The team will focus on a comeback victory against the St George Illawarra team next Saturday at Go Media Stadium.
