Aston Villa has sanctioned Emi Buendía’s exit, paving the way for Leeds United to pursue the Argentine midfielder, aiming to bolster their Premier League campaign.

Aston Villa has reportedly given the green light for midfielder Emi Buendía to depart the club, opening the door for Leeds United to secure a pivotal signing ahead of their Premier League return.

Buendía, who previously thrived under Leeds manager Daniel Farke at Norwich City, spent the latter half of the 2024–25 season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen.

Despite the opportunity, the Argentine struggled to make a significant impact in the Bundesliga, leading Leverkusen to decline the option to make his move permanent.

With Aston Villa now approving his exit, Buendía is set to return to the transfer market.

Leeds United, having shown interest in the midfielder during the January window, is poised to reignite their pursuit.

The potential reunion with Farke could provide the creative spark Leeds seeks in their midfield lineup.

Buendía’s track record under Farke is noteworthy; during their time at Norwich City, he was instrumental in the team’s promotion to the Premier League, contributing significantly with goals and assists.

His familiarity with Farke’s system and the demands of English football make him a fitting candidate for Leeds’ ambitions.

While financial details remain undisclosed, the move is anticipated to be a strategic acquisition for Leeds United as they aim to solidify their squad for the challenges of top-flight football.
