The Northern Super League (NSL) announces a major partnership with ESPN, bringing over 40 matches per season to U.S. viewers via ESPN+.

The Northern Super League (NSL), Canada’s pioneering professional women’s soccer league, has announced a groundbreaking multi-year broadcast partnership with ESPN.

This collaboration marks a major milestone for the sport in North America, as it opens the door for U.S. audiences to access more than 40 NSL matches each season through the ESPN+ streaming platform.

The inaugural match of the NSL season between Vancouver Rise FC and Calgary Wild FC will begin the league’s first year on April 16.

The match at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver starts at 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET while ESPN+ offers broadcasting of regular season games, playoff matches and the league’s initial championship final which promotes Canadian talent to a broad audience.

Diana Matheson a retired bronze medallist midfielder from Canada’s national team founded the Northern Super League (NSL) to create a long-term domestic women’s soccer operating system.

This league functions as a critical link in Canada’s soccer system through its creation of domestic professional sports opportunities for players who otherwise would have to leave the country for international experience.

The NSL dedicates itself to safeguarding athlete wellbeing together with gender parity and building local communities.

The NSL enhances its audience expansion through ESPN network partnership and creates positive momentum for upcoming investments in women’s professional soccer.

This partnership will greatly improve the league’s public profile and boost Canadian women’s soccer popularity because it may encourage other North American up-and-coming leagues to form similar deals.
