A woman married to a prominent pastor in one of Ghana’s largest Pentecostal churches has made a deeply emotional appeal for help, revealing disturbing details about her marriage, which she says has left her feeling emotionally drained and physically vulnerable.
Speaking anonymously on TV3’s Confessions programme, the pastor’s wife described years of private turmoil masked by the public image of a respected ministry couple.
“What started as a dream relationship turned into a source of unhappiness,” she said.
The woman revealed that during their two-year courtship, they abstained from sex—something she initially interpreted as spiritual discipline. However, her excitement quickly turned into confusion after their wedding, particularly on their first night together. She said she was stunned when her husband insisted she should not bathe before intimacy.
“I thought it was just a one-time thing,” she shared. “But that has become the pattern in our marriage. He prefers I don’t shower or shave before sex.”
She disclosed that her husband has imposed this rule consistently throughout their marriage, instructing her daily not to bathe or shave when he anticipates intimacy. The result, she said, has been recurring health issues, including yeast infections, which she claims he disregards entirely.
“Whether I’m sick or not, he still does what he wants. It’s painful, it’s degrading, and I feel like I’m losing myself,” she said.
Despite her increasing distress, the woman said she has remained silent out of fear of judgment and the need to protect her husband’s pastoral image.
The revelation has sparked a broader conversation online and in religious communities, shedding light on the hidden struggles some women face behind the image of a perfect ministry marriage.
