There was open tension at the APC Oyo Youth Summit in Ibadan on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, after party members rejected former lawmaker Saheed Fijabi.

The APC Oyo Youth Summit, held at the Civic Centre, Idi Ape, attracted youths and party leaders from different parts of Oyo State.

Trouble began when organisers guided Fijabi to sit among party leaders at the APC Oyo Youth Summit.

Some participants reacted angrily, booing loudly and insisting that he did not belong at the APC Oyo Youth Summit.

A viral video later showed the former lawmaker leaving the hall amid chants and jeers from youths at the APC Oyo Youth Summit.

The disruption followed recent comments where Fijabi praised Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He spoke on December 15 during the unveiling of the Oyo @50 anniversary logo ceremony in Ibadan.

At the event, Fijabi described Makinde as visionary and openly admired his style of leadership.

“We are not abusing you; we are only criticising you.

And I believe that the more you are criticised, the more you do the right thing,” he said.

“We can all see the political climate in Nigeria today, and we are firmly behind you.

Keep going—we will continue to support you… With the new Omituntun that you are leading, there is no reason why we cannot join you and allow you to keep leading us forward.”

Those remarks reportedly angered many APC members, with emotions spilling over at the APC Oyo Youth Summit.

Party leaders eventually escorted Fijabi out to prevent further breakdown of order at the APC Oyo Youth Summit.

Fijabi previously served two terms in the House of Representatives, representing Ibadan North West/South West federal constituency.

In October, Governor Makinde appointed him chairman of the Oyo State at 50 Anniversary Committee.

Days after praising Governor Seyi Makinde, APC member Hon. Saheed Fijabi booed and prevented from speaking at the ongoing 2025 Oyo APC Youth Summit.
