President Tinubu commits to transforming the Nigeria Police Force with advanced training and technology, declaring April 7 as National Police Day.
President Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to developing a well-trained, technologically advanced, and modern Nigeria Police Force.
During the April 7, 2025 inaugural National Police Day celebrations at Eagle Square in Abuja Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Tinubu who highlighted the importance of giving police modern tools along with training for effective crime fighting and national security maintenance.
The president proclaimed during his speech that April 7 should become an annual recognition day for police officers throughout the country.
The President proposed a welfare package to enhance police employees’ comfort which included housing benefits with healthcare services and educational support for their dependents.
The President emphasized his strong dedication toward police welfare as well as comprehensive reform. The planned changes will rapidly start to appear as executed implementations.
During his speech at the event Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun discussed the current reform efforts which seek to develop a reliable police force dedicated to justice delivery and national progress.
During the event the Vice President led the guard inspection while tactical units and security organizations conducted processions followed by silent drill exhibitions performed by Nigeria Police Force personnel.
The ceremony gathered multiple prominent dignitaries who included Kwara State Governor AbdulRazaq Abdulrahman along with Secretary to the Government of the Federation Sen. George Akume and National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and various service chiefs to prove the administration’s ongoing efforts to boost both ability and well-being of the Nigeria Police Force.
